Parade 1922: Circa 1922 Handwritten note on original photo said “1922”. If it truly was 1922, the photo would most likely have been taken on 8/5/1922, the date of the Snyder annual picnic and parade (per the department meeting minutes). Also, this photo would show the brand new Snyder firehouse. The first meeting in the new firehouse was 8/7/1922. This would make it the first ever photo of the firehouse. Also, the truck shown is not the Snyder Ahrens Fox. That truck was delivered in July 1925 and this one clearly looks different. Note the cupola on the roof –removed in 1934 (per minutes 7/2/1934-possibly to make room for new siren) |
